«The Door» Gallery

Working days and hours: from 3 p. m. till 7 p. m. daily except Mondays and Tuesdays.

In summer of 2006 a new non-profit gallery opened in St Petersburg. One more miniature exhibition space was added to Vladimir Kozin’s «Parasite» which has been occupying «Borey»‘s corridor for some years already and Konstantin Mitinev’s «Window» in Sadovaya Street. «The Door» is an object in itself. It is a massive metal door built into a blank wall on the fourth floor of The «Pushkinskaya-10″ Art Centre. It doesn’t look much different from an ordinary entrance to a flat. Once a month a new exhibition appears here. Sometimes images and objects are hung in the open doorway. Sometimes the door is locked and the exposition can be seen through the peephole. Yevgeniya Konovalova’s project does not only turn living and official spaces into an exhibition space, as «Parasite» and «Window» or the recently opened in «Borey» and in «Pushkinskaya-10″ the «10×15″ and «The Wall» galleries do. «The Door» is an attempt to work in the framework of objective art.

Curator – Yevgeniya Konovalova.
